5G technology is near. Even some of the phone companies announced that they will be rolling out models that support 5G networks in 2019. But Apple will launch its 5G iPhone in 2020.
Nowadays, we have the 4G or LTE connection, depending on where you live. It’s much faster than 3G or EDGE connections. So, 5G technology will be a lot faster, actually a thousand times than 4G. Theoretically, 5G will provide 10 Gbps of speed, instead of 100 Mbps of speed in 4G. But this is just “on paper” value, so the real world results will be different.
Intel will lead 5G
According to some sources in Fast Company, Intel’s 8161 model chip will be the first chip to provide 5G connectivity. Oppo, LG, Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, and Sony companies will provide phones that support the 5G connection in 2019, likely with this chip. Right now, Intel is dealing with heat issues of the 8161 modem chip, after they solve this problem, a prototype will be prepared and then the chip will be manufactured for commercial uses.
Apple, on the other hand, will launch a 5G iPhone in 2020. This is probably a cause of the hardware solution. Apple uses its own chip in iPhones, so it would take time for Apple to get ready its chips for 5G.
